The Evolution of a Building

In 1880, the Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad was the first of three railroads that roared into town, leaving its steel mark on the landscape. The DSP&P Depot, originally perched where Buena Vista’s elementary school now stands, witnessed the changing tides of industry. By 1924, however, the rails fell silent after the company decided BV was no longer a profitable destination.

Yet, the Depot's story wasn't over. In 1927, it found a new home, serving as a residence and office. But fate had another twist in store. A 2002 fire threatened to erase its legacy. But instead of succumbing to the flames, the Depot found itself embraced by the community. Buena Vista Heritage, fueled by generous donations and unwavering local spirit, offered it salvation.
