Meet the Madams

Special Showing - May 25

6-7 PM

Dive into the opulent, smoke-filled world of Buena Vista's most notorious madams: the sharp-tongued Cockeyed Liz and the cunning Belle Brown.

Meet the Madams takes you on an hour-long adventure through the life of women running the brothels before the turn of the 20th century.

Advanced reservations recommended. No children under 14 allowed.

Buckle up for a night of scandalous secrets and side-splitting sass! Come learn the lore behind Buena Vista’s best-known madam, Cockeyed Liz, and her rivalry with the infamous Belle Brown. Meet Lillian Powers, who was the longest-running madam in Florence, and witness the vast impact Laura Evens had on Salida.

Madams of Central Colorado will take you for a wild ride through the Victorian Era, where fashion could be deadly, feuds were fiery, and working girls weren't afraid to hustle. Through hilarious tales and unfiltered truths, these madams and their girls will peel back the velvet curtain and expose the real story behind those infamous red-light districts. But don't let the laughter fool you; this ain't no sugar-coated saloon show. Based on the raw, uncensored accounts of the "soiled doves" themselves, prepare for moments that will shock, sadden, and ultimately remind you that these women were very much human.

So come one, come all, to an exposé unlike any other! Madams of Central Colorado is history with the gloves off, truth with a twinkle in its eye, and a night you won't soon forget. Every word of the show is true... and some of it's even crazier than you could imagine!

Although the subject matter is touchy, the performers keep the discussion as tasteful as possible, focusing on educational and historical aspects. However, there are discussions of sex and questionable medical practices. The show is not recommended for children or people who may be sensitive to such content.

Proceeds benefit Buena Vista Heritage, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve and share the history of Buena Vista and Chaffee County.
