Turner Farm and Apple Orchard

829 West Main Street, Buena Vista, Colorado

Picture yourself on grandma's porch or surrounded by an orchard of apple trees. Step back in time to a quieter and less demanding lifestyle and enjoy the quaint surroundings of Turner Farm. Weddings have been staged on the porch and in the orchard. Reunions enjoy that old-fashioned camaraderie.

The Historic Turner Farm was purchased by Buena Vista Heritage in order to restore the old apple farm to a "living museum" of the early 1900 vintage.

Work on the grounds has been completed.  Restoration work on the historic buildings is near completion. The farm features about 50 apple trees and five buildings: the two-story farm house complete with a covered porch, the "mother-in-law cabin," the homestead cabin, the garage/workshop and the barn/tack room. Modern bathrooms have been added since the restoration began.

The farm is available for weddings and reunions from May 15th to October 15th. To reserve the farm for your wedding or a reunion, go to the  Facility Rental Page .

Buena Vista Heritage Museum

506 East Main Street, Buena Vista, Colorado

Looking for something more elegant but still has a story to tell? The Old Chaffee County Courthouse, completed in 1882, now houses the Buena Vista Heritage Museum.

The large room at the top of the stairs was once the heart of this venerable old building. This courtroom was the scene of many exciting cases. This is now used as a venue for a weddings, receptions, banquets, historical reenactments and lectures. It has a beautiful long staircase that leads to the room with chandeliers showing in the background. It holds up to 130 people.

The Chaffee County Courthouse was used as a courthouse from 1882 to 1932. From 1936 through 1972 it was used as a school. In 1974, encouraged by tremendous public support, the School District sold the building to the Town of Buena Vista for $1.00. The building became the home of the Buena Vista Heritage Museum, the Chaffee County Council of the Arts gallery (now Arkansas Valley Art Center) and the Buena Vista Model Railroad Society display. In 2003, the Buena Vista population voted to sell the Courthouse to Buena Vista Heritage, also for $1.00.
